In another forum, I again complained about Congress critters being ignorant of economics. But I could be wrong. Some may be fully aware that things they support are built on bad economics and are harmful to the nation, yet support them anyway. Even if they understand economics, they better understand politics and what it takes to be elected. If their constituents don’t understand economics and insist on bad policies, a politician must comply or be replaced.
So maybe I’m too hard on politicians. Perhaps they are just following the ignorant will of ignorant people.
This means, of course, that any hope of things getting much better rests on the improvement in economic understanding by average voters. As depressing as that sounds, I don’t see how it can work any other way.
