Federalism on Steroids

The fact that Switzerland works at all is a powerful argument that we do not need such a strong central government.

I had no idea that Switzerland governed itself in the manner described.

The general subject of federalism is quite germane these days. Note that Massachusetts has a state wide health insurance approach very similar to what Congress has been considering for the nation. If it turns out to be a good idea, we should expect other states to copy the approach. If it turns out to be a bad idea, well, thanks to the citizens of Massachusetts for being the guinea pigs. So far, no other state has stepped up. Why federalize what the state governments have so far avoided?
