Wholesale Reform?

Senator Obama has apparently captured a lot of the public’s imagination talking about change. But what kind of change? David Brooks argues that McCain should get on the “change” bandwagon, but specifically talking about modernization of government through wholesale reform. But is such wholesale reform possible? What would it look like? Surprisingly, there is a proposal on the table. Congressman Ryan certainly is ambitious! But I’m not much encouraged. As long as we voters continue to elect people of profound ignorance because they say what we want to hear, there will be no wholesale reform. Things will have to get a whole lot worse before they get better.
