Judicial Philosophy

The election of a new Supreme Court Justice in Wisconsin has gotten some interesting reactions. Critics of judicial elections claim that “justice is for sale”. Hmmm. If we trust voters to elect legislators with a particular legislative philosophy, why wouldn’t we trust voters to elect judges with a particular judicial philosophy? Surely no one is so naive as to believe that judicial philosophy doesn’t matter!
