Are we living in a “Dickensian nightmare where middle-class parents watch the dreams they hold for their children evaporate”? Hillary Clinton seems to think so. John Edwards has been saying similar things, so I guess Hillary has to appear at least as….as what? The Democrats seem to increasingly define themselves as the “victims’ party”, so I suppose it pays to convince everyone that they are victims too. What kind of platform is that? Given an unpopular Republican president, the Democrats should have a decent chance. But increasingly they seem to focus on two forms of “injustice”:
- People who get an education and work hard can make a lot of money.
- We’re too harsh on the people who want to kill us.
That doesn’t sound like a winning strategy to me!
